Wings of Fancy 2020
The biggest annual event at Brookside Gardens is a butterfly show called Wings of
Fancy. Brookside gardens chose this photo of one of their butterflies from the show, which I photographed. This photo is used on all of the event collateral. I added a blue tint to the photo in order to bring in a soft blue that came from the shine on the
butterflies wings. This blue tint brings the color from the butterfly into the design as well as softens the background so the focal point is the butterfly.

Wings of Fancy is the largest project I have ever worked on. I created many different types of collateral including flyers, posters, banners, roadside and bridge banners, multiple tickets and passes, advertisements for websites and magazines, and social media posts.
Throughout all of the collateral, I kept consistency through colors, typefaces, textured brushstrokes, and photography. Color was the major key in design for this event in order to separate all of the collateral so that it was easily read and understood by the viewer. Typeface and photography were a close second in collateral distinction.
Plant Sale Concept Ads
Here are two flyers that I created for a native plant sale event. I used my photography from Brookside Gardens in the flyers. The left flyer has a soft floral background with an opaque white color block. I often use this style of design because I don’t want to block off the whole photograph.
The right flyer is more minimal and clean. I put a photo of a flower in the headline text to draw the viewer in. I then used the color of the flower throughout the flyer. I included three other photographs of flowers at the bottom.
Public Outreach Bus Ad Concepts
I created two bus ad concept designs for the public outreach program. The audience for these ads are Montgomery County community members.
The two ads are intended to draw the community members in to give their input about what can be better in the park system. I created two different ideas, one that focuses on nature and the other that focuses on all of the amenities within the park
system.

Sample Event Collateral: Dino Days
I create a large amount of program collateral for many different mediums such as
banners, flyers, posters, social media posts, and more.

This project was for an event called Dino Days. The client wanted bold colors and a photo of a child playing. I used a dirt background to create an interesting background and that also served a purpose with digging up fossils. I use the same elements that I use in my poster or flyer for the event and carry it through the
rest of the collateral to keep it consistent.
Brookside Gardens Anniversary Event
I spent a summer at Brookside Gardens in Silver Spring, MD where I worked as a graphic designer and photographer. Brookside Gardens is part of Montgomery County Parks.
For Brookside Garden's 50th anniversary, I designed a large photo board that displayed a photographic timeline of the past fifty years, as well as quotes and stories about the people that have a special place in their heart for Brookside. I also created the event program for the event that consisted of guest speakers and other event information. Over the summer I also helped to take photographs and make photo collages for their new virtual story map.
Brookside Gardens Stroll for Well-Being Book
I am in the final stages of a book that I have been designing for Brookside Gardens. The book guides the reader through a stroll for well-being at the garden and has multiples “walks” for stopping at.
In the design of the book, I used different colors for each chapter to easily find and separate the chapters from each other. I also included many photos in the book, half of which were photographed by me, to show the beauty of the gardens. Throughout the book, there are multiple walks, poems, and note pages that each have its own
