I am a recent graduate from Salisbury University with a BFA in graphic design. I currently have a passion for branding and identity. I enjoy nature and conservation and would like to pursue those two topics with my design. I also own my own photography business.
In all of my design, I have learned how to create a visual that will appeal to a certain demographic, whether it is college students on campus looking for a fun event or corporate collateral meant for a whole diverse community. My school project design and my real world projects are very different from each other.
Throughout the graphic design program I learned a lot of different skills and created many different types of design. My greatest talent in the program began with product design and branding. I found that I enjoy the process of creating a brand from scratch, but also challenging myself to refresh a brand in a new and creative way. In my branding and packaging products I often use patterns, such as word repetition, color, or illustrative graphics. I use patterns because I can manipulate them to be bold and grab the viewer or I can create a soft pattern that creates a subtle background as a second focal point.
In my real-world graphic design work, mostly where I interned at Montgomery Parks, I create clean and easy to read designs. In most of my designs I use bold colors and photographs to draw the viewers attention. Aside from being a graphic designer, I am also a photographer so I enjoy using photographs in my designs. It was at Montgomery Parks that I learned how to design for multiple mediums and sizes, such as banners, posters, and social media. Working with clientele was the biggest learning curve because I had to design and listen to a client. I learned a lot about talking with clients, presenting to clients, and applying client critiques to my work. The biggest lesson I learned from real-world design was how to keep branding consistent and recognizable.
